About SonicWorks

SonicWorks™ was begun in 1997 to develop products and services for the underwater robotics industry. The company identified a void in the market for a precision positioning system for underwater robots and raised the capital to develop, under the product name SonicWorks, an Acoustic Positioning and Navigation System (APNS) and Robotic Control System (RCS) that forms the basis for the company’s underwater product/service offering for ship hull, oil platform and dam inspection.

After terrorists attacked the USS Cole in 2000, a new role for SonicWorks’ technology arose in underwater security. The APNS technology was explored for application as an
underwater detection system. After 9/11 and the advent of the Homeland Security Initiative, development of an underwater security system was begun and preliminary
designs completed in February of 2003.
